Syracuse University’s iY-1 (International Year One) Program offers international students unprecedented access to US higher education from their home country. Qualifying students begin the Syracuse curriculum in their home country at a recognized teaching centre. Students take a mix of credit-bearing courses, language lessons, and study skills modules from Syracuse faculty members online and local teaching centre instructors in person. Upon successful completion of the program, students transfer to the US, select a major, and continue into their second undergraduate year.

Students earn 30 credits toward their undergraduate degree. Upon successful completion of the iY-1 program, students matriculate to Syracuse University to complete their undergraduate degree.
